General Info & FAQs
How CE works:
To become a Real Estate Agent in California you have to take approved initial licensing classes approved by the Department of Real Estate (DRE). The Career Compass does NOT do any initial licensing classes. You then have pass a test administered by the DRE and if you pass you get an 8 digit DRE License number.

Once you have your license you need to complete continuing education once every 4 years. The CE has to equal 45 hours in 8 different categories per the DRE. Those categories are Agency, Fair Housing, Trust Funds, Ethics, Risk Management, Management & Supervision, Implicit Bias, and Consumer Protection.

The Career Compass is NOT a continuing education company, but we do provide CE as member benefit to our seminar attendees through our 3rd party affiliate company. The current DRE approved CE provider we use is 45hoursonline.com
Here are some common questions in regard to CE:

Do I have to wait until 90 days before my DRE expiration to get my CE credits?
NO!! NO!! NO!! You can get your Continuing Education ANYTIME in the 4 years prior to your expiration. A CE certificate is good for 4 years from the date you earned it.
The 90 day window is your DRE Renewal window, this is the only time the DRE will accept your renewal application and pay your renewal fees with the state.

Does it meet the requirements for a BROKER or SALESPERSON license renewal?
YES! As a member of THE CAREER COMPASS both Salesperson & Broker licenses are included in our REFERRAL to our Certified Continuing Education provider partner, affiliate company. Our partner, affiliate company, whom is in good standing with the CalDRE, will provide to you the opportunity to test for all 45/48 of the continuing education credit-hours you need to renew your salesperson or broker license for the upcoming four (4) year period.

How do I renew with the DRE? Do I mail my certificate into the DRE? Or do you do that for me?
NO, NO and NO! Do not mail it in. At the Seminar you were instructed to and shown how to go online to complete your license renewal process. If you have forgotten everything we taught you and have lost your book you can download the instructions HERE – that can be done sometime within a 90 day window before your license expires. And NO we do not do it for you!

Does Career Compass pay your DRE renewal fee?
LOL, That is hilarious! NO! THE CAREER COMPASS LIFETIME TICKET is as good as it gets, however it does NOT and cannot cover your DRE renewal fee. Unfortunately, there is no way we could stay in business if we did.

How many credits? How do I get my Certificate of Completion?
You will get your Continuing Education certificates for up to 45 or 48 credit hours (depending on your license) after you have completed the testing process with the REFERRAL to the certified DRE Continuing Education provider. You are able to go online immediately after course completion to renew your license as long as you are inside your 90 day window of your license expiration date at: www.dre.ca.gov. NOTE: You can EARN your credits anytime in the 4 years between expiration dates… you do not need to wait until the last minute to earn them.

Can I take my entire testing in one day…why 3 days?
NO... DRE has a 15/24 rule that does not allow testing on more than 15 credits in a 24 hour period. The minimum number of testing days it takes to get all the credit hours needed for a renewal is 3 days.

How do I get one of your representatives to speak at my office?
We are always happy to send one of our representative out to host a lunch and learn. Here are a few details about our presentations:
-
The class is 90 minutes with 30 minutes of Q&A at the end
-
Minimum class attendance is 10 agents
-
Lunch or refreshments are available upon request
-
Can be used as a recruiting event
-

MEALS:
All meals are on your own and links to local restaurants can be found in the Location Guide. However. don't eat a big heavy lunch. It will make you tired in the afternoon. We "Pity Da Fool" who falls asleep when our trainers are speaking...you know they will make fun of you...Be afraid, be very afraid)
WHAT YOU MUST BRING:
Event Ticket - it was emailed to you when you RSVP'd. If you can't find it DO NOT CALL OUR OFFICES, simply check your spam/junk folders and if you still can't find it, then email support@thecareercompass.com and request they send it to you again.
REGISTRATION:
To help expedite the registration/check in procedure, please have your event ticket available to be scanned and if you do not have that, have your picture ID out and ready to show the staff.
DRESS CODE:
We trust you know what to wear as a business professional, we do suggest you bring a sweater/jacket if you tend to get cold as the temperatures are kept on the cooler side.
WI-FI:
If you have your own broadband card or you can tether to your phone, please do so. There is limited Wi-Fi available through host venues, but just like a Freeway, the more people on it, the slower it goes.
OPEN BAR / HOSPITALITY SUITE:
We will have the open hosted bar (yes, free drinks). The location of this will be announced at the seminar. Don't worry just follow the hordes of people who are raging alcoholics, and the idea of free drinks has made them lose their minds...in real life. If you still can't find it, maybe you have already been drinking and don't need any more booze.
PC (Political Correctness):
PC stands for Political Correctness. Please understand that the "PC Disease" that has gripped our country to the point of almost being ridiculous is NOT observed by US. This is not your father's success seminar! You will be learning bare knuckled, hard-core, real-world tools and techniques used by the TOP agents. These are delivered by a real trainer and not a soft-ball, fantasyland, mamby-pamby trainer talking about cold calling. It will be coming at you fast and furious. We request you bring your sense of humor. You will need it! So, if you have not used your sense of humor since the early 80's, dust it off...it is time for you to have some fun! We hope you understand, and we hope you agree.
COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS:
By attending the event, you are acknowledging that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. By attending the Seminar, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold the seminar host(s) company, or any of their affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers liable for any illness or injury.

QUESTIONS (Well, aren't we inquisitive?):
DON'T CALL US.
If you have questions, please email your comments to us at SUPPORT@THECAREERCOMPASS.COM. We will get right back to you if your question was NOT addressed above. If your question was addressed above, and you just opted not to read it, or if your question is just silly, we won't email you back. So, if you don't get an email back, you will know why...isn't that reassuring?
We will see you on October 16th at 8:30am!
Additonal Sales
At the seminar we offer two products people can purchase to help them take what they have learned and reinforce the materials and expand on items we did not have time to teach.
Below is the form we use and links to each product so you can click to learn more about our products.

CE Process
As a Career Compass member and attendee, a provided benefit is the ability to test for you mandatory DRE continuing education credits. As always, we work with a 3rd party affiliate provider to execute the testing portion, and all attendees will be given the instructions at the end of the seminar on how to finish the testing portion.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We will NOT be sending an email with the instructions. Instructions are provided during the seminar via a QR code that will be put up on the screen or we will hand out a 1/2 sheet of paper with the QR code and website address to the instructions.

If an attendee is not her at the close of the event, they will NOT get the instructions on how to complete the testing portion.

Per DRE regulations, a CE certificate cannot be issued until the student has shown comprehension of the material by passing and exam with a 70% or better score. We cover all the relevant material needed to successfully pass the exams during the 2 day event and if an attendee has notes from the event, passing the short exams is a snap!
